WEEK 11

11/21-11/27

We met with Dr. Felder and discussed possible issues that would need to be worked through when constructing a CAD model. We are considering if it is best to design the barbs and the tubular components as one piece or have an alternative way of connecting them. We were concerned that using a laser cutter to model the barbs would be impossible if they were already connected to the tubes. We discussed using injection molding as opposed to 3D printing as a possible work around. We will continue thinking about these ideas, but in the meantime we are planning to move ahead with a preliminary 3D printed prototype to work on finalizing the details of the design through testing, like the optimal barb spacing and angle. Additionally, we discussed the possibility of starting a company to bring our product to market. We plan to utilize Sling Health's resources to learn more about the process that would entail.

We also each started research on our individual tasks for the final report. Camryn completed an initial version of the Design-Safe analysis. Sooah began creating mechanical drawings for the device. Hayden began researching the path to FDA approval and outlining the plan for verification and validation.

This week, we will continue to make progress on our individual tasks and ideally bring them together for a group review at the end of this week.
